The first Thanksgiving without Lisa Marie Presley

Memories can bring into focus powerful images wrought with emotions.

Recently, I was thinking about that humid August week in 1977 when I, and the world, saw little Lisa Marie wearing her white knee socks holding the hand of loved ones in the, previously never thought of event the, funeral of Elvis Presley. Similar to the image of JFK, Jr saluting his father’s casket that image of Lisa Marie is engrained into my psyche along with a type of protectionism.

I was thinking that when Lisa Marie died (sadly) fans had to face the unimaginable. That Lisa Marie Presley died, like her beloved father, too…soon.

She left behind 3 incredibly talented daughters and, as is a parent’s worst nightmare, buried a son.

I hope that her daughters will always know that many, as I will, pray for them. Want the best for them and hope that Graceland doesn’t become more… unattainable for so many. With everything now being so expensive I would not want those without means to be regulated to only photographs. Or videos. For Graceland was home to a man blessed by God and yet he was far from perfect. Elvis was…real.

It hasn’t even been a year since Lisa Marie’s passing and yet it seems longer. I guess thats the case when a light ceases to be.

I plan on writing more about this subject in the future.

Take care and may God bless you and yours always.
